Big thanks to my team for pulling an all nighter refinishing the stage for McCain’s memorial service. Past presidents eulogizing an American hero certainly warrants the most polished presentation possible.

Money was earned today. I experienced our first aluminum concrete form blow-out. I figure about 12 yards poured out before a dam was cobbled together. When doing board form and other wood formed pours this is more expected; not with production aluminum forms. Sounded like a shotgun blast and thankfully the guys walking the wall were not hurt. Stay vigilant. We become callused to the danger we are around every day, but remember, we stand on, under, and around massive weights and forces when we build.

Getting my certification was the closest thing I have experienced to school in decades. For a student used to coasting through with mediocre results, I really had apply effort. The process though, has been transformative and eye opening for me. There are so many basic things that can be done to make a home multitudes better than the code minimum that the industry incentivizes builders to do. There are changes afoot.

Our time lapse camera allows the entire project team to keep track of the build progress. Cellular based and equipped with PV batteries, it gives us a bird’s eye view of the cool designed project. That is a two story volume on the left. Log in to check on the guys. Pretty sweet, a bit creepy.
