Tranquil Space is a yoga studio that has been named among the top 25 yoga studios in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine. When they outgrew their original studio space they looked to Allen-Built to convert two separated rowhouses with a commercial first floor into a combined single occupant with commercial throughout.  This included dealing with zoning and historical preservation issues, along with designing an environmentally sensitive retreat which will grow with them.

The original shell was deconstructed so that the old growth floor joists and framing was reused as benches  and cabinets. Old pallets were salvaged to make the dressing rooms. Sidewalk tree grates were cut in half and welded together to make a banquet. A ramshakled barn was recycled into flooring and wall coverings. Even glass was reused to allow light to travel between rooms.  Craftsmanship and artistry are not far removed.
